Philip Neville Arps was sentenced to 21 months in prison last June for spreading footage of the Al Noor Mosque massacre, and was released in January.

Police today said they arrested a 45-year-old man on Linwood Avenue shortly after 10am for breaching his conditions.

They did not respond to questions whether that person was Arps, but RNZ understands it was.

He appeared before a judge this afternoon and has been granted bail.
