Man questioned over message left outside Christchurch mosque

Police have spoken to a 36-year-old man in relation to hate speech being left outside a Christchurch mosque.

An investigation has been ongoing after a message was written in chalk on the footpath outside Al Noor mosque on Saturday.

Police said there were reports of similar messages outside Linwood mosque and police stations.

Canterbury Commander Superintendent John Price said the act had drawn a lot of attention from the public and people should continuing reporting any suspicious behavior.

The man appeared in Christchurch District Court today on unrelated matters.
