Some Auckland beaches safe for swimming again

More beaches are now suitable for swimming in Auckland after dozens were deemed unsafe.

There are still 29 beaches in the region reported to have high levels of faecal bacteria, down from the earlier 50.

Notices are in force from Whangaparaoa to Brown's Bay on the North Shore.

Beaches affected in central Auckland include Point Chevalier, Westmere, Judges Bay, Okahu Bay, St Heliers, and Point England.

In the eastern suburbs, beaches around Bucklands Beach and Maraetai have also been affected.

Other affected beaches are on the west coast near Piha, around Titirangi, Green Bay and Grannys Bay.

Weymouth in the south is also affected.
