Two Head Hunters gang members have been arrested on driving and drug related charges.
South Island police were on alert yesterday after receiving complaints about two late model Mercedes cars allegedly driving dangerously and speeding.
Canterbury metro commander superintendent Lane Todd said in a statement: "One of the vehicles was seen by a police unit in Tarras, Central Otago, but failed to stop when signalled to do so.
"We had information to suggest both vehicles were travelling to Picton and staff throughout the South island were actively looking for these cars."
After a days' search, police found the vehicles at a Christchurch address about 11.30pm and after searching the home, found two firearms, methamphetamine and cannabis.
Todd said two patched members of the Head Hunters MC gang and a gang prospect, were arrested and both vehicles impounded, while further charges were being considered.
The 47 and 33-year-old men will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Wednesday.
