Fire crews are battling a vegetation fire in the Far North which has spread to 300 hectares.
The blaze in Kaimaumau, near Houhora, was reported shortly before 1.30pm.
Nine fire engines, seven helicopters and two excavators and a bulldozer are working to bring it under control.
Fire and Emergency says a command unit from Whangārei is setting up to manage the incident.
Members of the public are asked to avoid the area.
