Police have named the man whose death is the subject of a homicide inquiry in Nelson.

Lake Arizona Takimoana, 22, died on Tuesday after being shot. Detective Inspector Mark Chenery said police extended condolences to Takimoana's friends and whānau.
A homicide investigation continues and police ask anyone with information that could help to contact them.
When the incident unfolded, police were called to a Washington Road property in Nelson shortly before 1.30pm on Tuesday.
Emergency services conducted CPR, but Takimoana died at the scene.
Chenery said Takimoana and the alleged shooter were known to each other and that there was minimal risk to the wider community.
