A stolen vehicle was used to break in to the BP on Chapel Road, Botany, just after midnight.
Burglars began stealing cigarettes but fled the area when a fog cannon was activated, police said.

The incident is the latest in a spate of ram raids in the Auckland area.

Temporary wooden plywood is replacing the front door and shattered glass remains scattered across the store.
