Sockburn stabbing: Appeal to support family raises $50k

A Givealittle page started to support the family of the woman stabbed to death in Christchurch has received more than $50,000 in two days.

The victim's name has been corrected in this story. 

Laisa Maraia Waka Tunidau, who was 52, was attacked outside her Sockburn home as she returned from work on Saturday.

Police said her family were extremely grateful for the kind wishes and assistance they had received in the wake of her death.

A 37-year-old man has been charged with murdering her and will appear in the High Court at Christchurch next month.

The family have asked for privacy as they grieve and prepare for the funeral.

A friend of the family said funds raised on the Givealittle page will go toward supporting her husband and family, with three children living in Fiji.
