Two people entered Brownsons Jewellers at the Meadowbank Shopping Centre on St Johns Rd with a gun about 1pm on Wednesday, police said.

A 45-year-old was arrested at a West Auckland property and police said they recovered items allegedly stolen from the store.

The man has been charged with offences including aggravated robbery, presenting a firearm, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.

He was due to appear in the Auckland District Court on Thursday.

"Police would like to acknowledge witnesses at the scene of the aggravated robbery who have assisted our enquiries," Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong of the Auckland City Crime Squad said.

They were not ruling out further arrests as their inquiry continued.
