Auckland police have confirmed that human remains have been found at a house in Clendon Park and efforts are under way to identify them.

Police were alerted to the discovery on Moncrieff Avenue around 1.30pm, after "the occupants brought unowned property to their address", police said in a statement this afternoon.
They say their priority is to establish the identity of the person who has died but it may take some time.
Several police officers have been working at the address overnight, including the specialist search group.
Counties Manukau district crime manager Detective Inspector Tofilau Faamanuia Vaaelua said police did not believe those living at the property were involved in the discovery of the remains.
"Police acknowledge them for their assistance so far and we are providing support for them."

Inspector Vaaelua said while there was a a lot of public interest in what has occurred, police still had to undertake a lot of inquiries.
The scene where the remains were found was still being examined and more police would be in the area over the next few days.
A post-mortem examination has begun and would be completed "over the coming days", the statement said.
"The priority for police is to confirm the identification of the deceased so that we can establish the full circumstances behind the discovery.
"This will also lead to the advising of next of kin. Given the nature of the discovery, this might take some time."
Police say there is no immediate risk to the public in regards to this incident.
