One person has died in a crash on the Coromandel Peninsula tonight.
The single-vehicle crash this evening was on the Kopu-Hikuai Road (SH 25A), near the Tairua River bridge.
The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene, police said.
The road remains closed and motorists are asked to take alternate routes.
Diversions are expected to be in place at Kopu to the south and at State Highway 25 to the north.
