Covid-19 update: 1483 community cases, 243 people in hospital

There have been 1483 community cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand today, with 243 people currently in hospital with the virus.

The seven-day rolling average of community case numbers today is continuing to fall, at 1549 today compared to 1948 this time last week.

Nine more deaths of people with Covid-19 have been reported today - five were from Auckland region, one was from Waikato, one was from Bay of Plenty, one was from Hawke's Bay, one was from Wellington region.

Four were in their 80s and five were aged over 90. Six were women and three were men.

There have now been 1944 deaths in New Zealand confirmed as attributable to the coronavirus, up three from yesterday.

There were 1653 community cases reported yesterday.

New Zealand has now recorded a total of 1,739,718 cases of Covid-19.
