A 31-year-old man will appear in court after being charged in relation to a shooting in Gisborne on Christmas Eve.
Police believed several other drive-by shootings in the Kaiti area during the Christmas and New Year period were linked to the shooting.
No one was hurt in any of the incidents and no property was damaged, police said.
The man was arrested on 6 January and was due to appear in Gisborne District Court on Monday.
Police said they wanted to reassure the community these matters were "being taken extremely seriously".
They said anyone with information should call them on 105 referencing file 221224/3931, or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
