Police have released the name of a teenager who died in the Coromandel last week.
Cameron Cumming, 19, died in a water-related incident on Thursday morning in Coroglen, about 5km south of Whitianga.
"Police's thoughts are with his family and friends," a statement said.
A "shocking number" of people have died this year following water-related incidents.
There have been six water-related deaths in the Auckland Region since Friday.
Two people died after getting into trouble in the water at Piha on Saturday while another person died in a water-related incident at an address in Takapuna.
On Friday, one person died after getting into difficulty near Takapuna's Narrow Neck Beach and another died following a water-related incident near Big Manly Beach on the Whangaparāoa Peninsula.
Skillz4life managing director Jackie Foster said the numbers were hugely concerning.
"I'm absolutely shocked with the statistics that are coming out at the moment," she said.
"It's quite concerning and it should be concerning for the whole country.
"Moving forward, we're surrounded by water and when it comes down to it, we as a country need to step up and the government need to start getting involved."
Cumming's death will be referred to the coroner.
