Police are offering a cash reward and perhaps even immunity from prosecution for help solving a murder.

Simon Allan Bevers, 56, was found dead last March in his tent at an apple orchard on Edens Road, Hope, southwest of Nelson.

"Tomorrow marks one year since Simon was found dead," Detective Inspector Mark Chenery said.

"Our investigation team has worked tirelessly to provide answers for Simon's family, and to hold the person or people responsible for Simon's death to account."

Police believe Bevers was killed in his tent sometime between 8pm on 7 March and the morning of 9 March, when he was found dead.

They are offering a reward of up to $100,000 for information that leads to a conviction.

Any accomplices of the "main offender" who assist police may be granted immunity from prosecution.

"I urge anyone with information which could assist the investigation team to get in touch and help us provide the answers Simon's family so desperately need," Chenery said.

The offer remains open until 31 May.

Information can be provided via the police's 105 service, or by calling the police directly on 03 545 9853, quoting file number 220309/6371.
