Two teenage boys who were missing in a Bay of Plenty national park have been been found, police say.

Police were called on Monday morning after the pair failed to return from a hunting trip at Raukūmara Forest Park, after already spending one unplanned night in the bush.

The search for them continued today, with search and rescue and LandSAR volunteers from Whakatāne, Tauranga and Rotorua, joining the operation.

They were found just after midday by a LandSAR search team and were lifted from the bush by a NZDF helicopter.

NZDF medical staff were assessing them and they appear to be uninjured, police said.

"We would like to remind people to always prepare for any eventuality when venturing into the outdoors," said inspector Phillip Gillbanks.

"NZ conditions and terrain can be unforgiving, and it pays to always have the necessary clothing and equipment to spend a night in the bush regardless of your intentions."

Police thanked everyone who took part in the searching and planning.

Meanwhile, Canterbury police say a teenage hiker who was missing in Arthur's Pass has been found safe and well.

Police had made a public appeal for help to find the 18-year-old, who became separated from his group on Sunday afternoon.
