An eight-year-old child died after a two-vehicle crash in Feilding last week.
She was Te Atarangi Tui Teu-Whittaker and lived in Marton.
Police said Te Atarangi was taken to hospital following the crash on Halcombe Road on Thursday, 4 May.
She died in the early hours of Friday.
"Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family," a police statement said.
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue.
