A central Auckland street is blocked off after a reported hazardous material incident.
1News has reported some residents in the area have noticed a chemical smell in their apartments.
The New Zealand Herald is reporting that the smell was a petrol scooter running inside an apartment building and that the building is being ventilated.
Anzac Avenue is closed off while emergency crews respond to the scene.
