A serious two-vehicle crash has blocked State Highway 29 on the western side of the Kaimai Ranges
Police said initial indications suggested serious injuries.
The crash was reported to emergency services about 9.30am.
Police said motorists could expect substantial delays and advised delaying travel if possible.
Southbound traffic was being being diverted, police said.
