There have been 5372 new cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand over the past week and 20 further deaths attributed to the virus.
Of the new cases, 2736 were reinfections.
The total number of deaths attributed to the virus in New Zealand is now 3249.
As of midnight on Sunday, there were 171 cases in hospital, with four people in intensive care.
The seven-day rolling average of new cases was 763.
Last week, the Ministry of Health reported 4645 new cases over the previous week and 10 further deaths.
Meanwhile, the World Health Organisation has declared a new sub-variant of Covid called EG.5.
It has unofficially been named "Eris" and countries are asked to monitor it as cases grow globally.
