Emergency services have contained a scrub fire in Culverden, North Canterbury.
Fire crews were called to the scene at Pahau Downs just before 5am on Sunday.
A spokesperson said the fire was about 150 metres long in a gully and had taken out an old shed.
There are houses in the area, but no residents have been evacuated.
At 9am, a digger was on scene, pulling apart piles of vegetation.
