A severe thunderstorm warning in place for Christchurch for Sunday evening has now been lifted.
MetService said the thunderstorm has weakened and is no longer considered severe.
At 6.45pm on Sunday, MetService weather radar detected severe thunderstorms near Lincoln, Rolleston, West Melton, Springston and Templeton.
These severe thunderstorms were moving towards the east, and were expected to lie near Christchurch at 7.15pm and near Christchurch, Banks Peninsula and Lyttleton by 7.45pm.
