Police are investigating after a gun was pulled out following a car crash in the Auckland suburb of Ōtara.

Officers were called to the multi-vehicle crash on East Tamaki Road about 10.20pm on Monday.

Detective Senior Sergeant Dean Batey of Counties Manukau East CIB said a vehicle was driven away after it collided with two other cars.

He said it eventually pulled over, following a pursuit by the drivers of the damaged cars.

The driver then pulled out a firearm and exchanged words with the people in one of the damaged cars, before driving off at speed.

Detective Batey said they were following positive lines of inquiry to find the offender.

No injuries were reported.
