Indie-rock band The Beths have been crowned the best group in New Zealand at this year's Aotearoa Music Awards, with their record, Expert in a Dying Field, also winning Best Album.
Fresh off the back of a huge global tour, including a Coachella show, the Tāmaki Makaurau-based band scored the coveted award over the impressive lineup of other finalists including Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Tiny Ruins, LEISURE, and Mermaidens.
The Beths did however miss out on single of the year, bagged instead by Avantdale Bowling Club for 'Friday Night at the Liquor Store'.
For the first time in two years, NZ's music industry's finest stepped out for the ceremony at Auckland's Viaduct Events Centre on Thursday night.
Georgia Lines was named Best Pop Artist, Aaradhna was named Best Soul/R&B Artist and Racing scooped Best Rock Artist..
Tawaz was named Best Māori Artist, while Six60 scooped the award for Highest Selling Artist of the Year but was not there to receive it.
Hori Shaw won the People's Choice Award, while Corrella won Breakthrough Single of the Year for 'Blue Eyed Māori'.
Dame Hinewehi Mohi received a standing ovation when she was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
