A man has been charged with the murder of a Whanganui woman on Tuesday night.
Officers were called to a home in Fitzherbert Avenue at 7.11pm on 4 June where they found the woman's body.
Early on Wednesday, a 50-year-old man was arrested when a vehicle of interest was found at another house in Whanganui.
A homicide investigation under way. The man has been remanded and will appear in court at a later date.
Police said the woman and man were known to each other.
"Enquiries remain ongoing and police do not believe there is any ongoing risk to the wider public," detective senior sergeant Brett Humphrey said.
The scene examination of the Fitzherbert Avenue house is expected to be completed on Thursday.
