Hip hop legends Public Enemy have announced a one-off show for New Zealand in October this year.
It's been 10 years since their last visit, but they will bring the On The Grid 35th Anniversary Tour to Auckland's Trusts Arena on 15 October, joined by local rapper, MELODOWNZ.
Public Enemy formed in 1985 in Long Island by friends Chuck D and Flavor Flav and their debut album, Yo! Bum Rush The Show laid the foundation for their revolutionary sound, blending assertive beats with sharp social commentary.
Starting off as an opening act for the Beastie Boys, it was the 1989 album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back that catapulted them to international fame.
MELODOWNZ won three Pacific Music Awards in 2023: Best Male Artist, Best Music Video, and Best Music Album Award and bagged Best Pacific Music Video at the Aotearoa Music Awards.
General release tickets go on sale Tuesday 2 July at 10am through Ticketek.
