The police have put out a public plea for help in locating Nathan Theobald, who has a warrant to arrest.
The 37-year-old has outstanding warrants related to assault and the unlawful possession of a gun.
Police said they had actively been making enquiries to find Theobald but were now asking the public for help.
He was last seen in the Northland area but may have travelled out of the region, they said.
It was understood he could be travelling in a white Toyota Hilux.
Police warned Theobald should not be approached and anyone with information on his location was urged to contact police immediately on 111.
