A group of teenagers are in custody after the police pursuit of a stolen vehicle across Auckland on Sunday night, during which two officers were injured.

Police said the stolen vehicle sped north along State Highway 1 at about 10.10pm after failing to stop for police at Papakura.

It was tracked by the Police Eagle Helicopter, and stopped in Wairau Valley on the North Shore as officers surrounded the vehicle.

The driver rammed a police car in a failed attempt to flee.

Two officers in the patrol car suffered minor injuries and the front of the police car was damaged.

Five teenagers who were in the vehicle, aged from 13 to 17, were arrested at the scene.

A 17-year-old male is to appear in the North Shore Youth Court on Monday facing charges of motor vehicle theft, failing to stop, possessing offensive weapons, driving without a proper license, and driving recklessly causing injury.

A 15-year-old male is also set to appear in the same court, facing motor vehicle and offensive weapons charges.
