This story has been corrected to clarify there were two separate incidents.

Auckland police have arrested eight people, including six young people, accused of dangerous driving and fleeing police overnight.

The first incident occurred at around 2.14am, when officers saw a vehicle being driven dangerously along Lincoln Road, in Henderson.

Inspector Kelly Farrant, the area prevention manager for Waitematā West, said the vehicle failed to stop when requested.

"The vehicle continued to travel at high speed and given the nature of driving it was not pursued."

Two adults were arrested in Henderson after being chased by the police helicopter to their home address.

A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested, and charged with dangerous driving and breaching bail.

In the second incident two vehicles were stopped by spikes in Saint Heliers, and six young people, aged between 11 and 15, were taken into custody.

Two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old will appear in the Auckland Youth Court today charged with two counts of stealing a car.

Auckland City east area prevention manager Inspector Rachel Dolheguy said both vehicles have been recovered for their owners.

"These vehicles travelling at high-speed pose risks to the drivers and the wider community, so it is pleasing we have resolved this matter," she said.
