Police are expected to share new information today about the mysterious death of a Dargaville woman last month.

Joanna Mai Sione-Lauaki, 38, was reported missing on the morning of 2 August after she failed to return home the night before.

She was discovered later that day by a member of the public on Ripiro Beach, on the west coast north of Dargaville.

Police had not given any updates since saying they were treating the death as unexplained.

The officer leading the investigation, Detective Inspector Al Symonds, said he would speak to media at the Whangārei Police Station at 10.30am on Friday in relation to the death.
