Tamatea High School in Napier has briefly gone into lockdown.
In a post on its Facebook page, a spokesperson for the school said everyone was safe, but asked people to stay away for now.
It later posted that lockdown has now been lifted and students were back in classes.
Police said they were investigating a minor disorder incident outside the school shortly after midday.
