A man is dead after being swept down a river near Greymouth.
Police said they were notified at 10am on Wednesday that a person had been swept away from Davy Creek and towards the ocean, near the town of Rapahoe.
"The man was recovered from the water and brought to shore, where CPR was performed," police said.
A rescue helicopter was deployed.
