A man has been arrested in Northland after a police car was rammed on the road Monday morning.
Officers were called to Port Road in Whangārei at about 11.30am to sightings of a vehicle stolen during an aggravated robbery in Dargaville.
The vehicle was spotted again on State Highway One near Otaika Road and Rewa Rewa Road.
"The driver has then proceeded to ram a police vehicle," Whangārei-Kaipara area commander, Inspector Maria Nordstrom said.
"Thankfully no one was injured and the damage was minimal, however this type of behaviour is completely unacceptable."
The vehicle was later spiked near Tangowahine Valley Road.
The vehicle stopped and abandoned on Ounuwhao Road, where the offender attempted to flee on foot.
He was tracked by the dog unit and arrested.
The 38-year-old driver is expected appear in Whangārei District Court today, charged with three counts of assaulting a person with a blunt instrument, failing to stop and dangerous driving.
