Lightning has a caused a wildfire in Marlborough.
Four brigades and two helicopters were sent to locate the fire in Onamalutu, after reports of a lightning strike causing a small fire.
A witness told RNZ he was watching thunderstorms in the area, when a particularly large strike hit the hill and caused the blaze.
He said it was now raining heavily in the area.
A Fire and Emergency spokesperson said they received several calls regarding smoke in the area, but the fire could not be located.
