Firefighters have contained a large scrub fire that has been burning in Northland since Friday afternoon.
Crews were called to Hutchinson Road near Pataua South shortly after 2pm.
The fire had since burned through three hectares of bush and pine tree slash.
Fire and Emergency said the fire had been contained but a crew would remain on the scene overnight .
Another three crews would be back to help with the effort on Saturday.
Earlier, three helicopters and four fire trucks were at the scene.
