Police are investigating after a baby was flown to Starship Hospital with serious head injuries.

The injured five-month-old baby was taken to Dargaville Hospital on Saturday 28 December, Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer said.

From there, they were flown to Whangārei Hospital, before being transferred to Starship Hospital in Auckland.

On Monday, Pilmer said the baby was making a good recovery, but police are investigating how they were injured.
