All lanes heading south on Auckland's Southern Motorway have been blocked by a crash that has claimed the life of a motorcyclist.
Police said a crash involving a truck and a motorcycle happened around 8am, near the Greenlane on-ramp.
A section of State Highway 1 has been closed, and the Serious Crash Unit is at at the scene.
Traffic headed south is being diverted off the motorway at the Greenlane East off-ramp, and back on via the Greenlane East on-ramp.
Police say traffic is heavy in the area. They are encouraging motorists to consider alternative routes through the city, including using State Highways 16 and 20.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch with them.
