Social media posts across multiple west Auckland community pages about suspicious activity are linked to two alleged assaults police are aware of.
Police have asked the public to stop posting photos and personal details of a person online.
Some posts related to an assault on Monday morning near Sturges Rd train station, a man was charged with the assault.
Police said they were aware of more posts linked to suspicious activity that allegedly involved the same man and vehicle.
Another person was also arrested by police for assault at a Massey property on Friday afternoon.
Waitematā West Area commander, inspector Jason Edwards said anyone who had concerns or information related to the offending should report to police immediately.
Edwards said the public should not be taking matters into their own hands.
He said the last thing anyone needed right now was people putting themselves at risk of harm or in a situation where they may be potentially breaking the law.
Any further information could be reported by calling 105 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
