A man has been charged with murder following a group fight on Sunday night in Hastings, Hawke's Bay.
A 33-year-old man was dropped at Hastings Hospital in a critical condition and died a short time later from his injuries, at about 11pm.
Detective Inspector Martin James said a homicide investigation was launched following the death.
"Yesterday, Monday 17 February, a large team of detectives worked throughout the day, conducting scene examinations at several addresses in the suburb of Camberley and an address in Napier.
"Resulting from this work, a 28-year-old Hastings man was arrested and charged with murder," he said.
The family of the man killed has been told of the arrest, and the accused is due to appear in the Hastings District Court Tuesday.
