Three people have been arrested on weapons and drugs charges during a gang funeral in Te Puke on Friday
Acting Inspector Shannon Clifford said there was a large police presence in the town, as officers monitored the tangi for the father of a prominent gang member.
He said police focused on maintaining public order and road safety.
While there had been no breaches of the Gangs Act, he said, the arrests were for drugs and firearms, possessing a knife and breaching bail conditions.
Clifford said a dozen infringement notices were served for unsafe road behaviour.
