Te Atatū MP Phil Twyford claims his electorate office has been targeted with the dumping of rubbish after he called for Destiny Church to be struck off the charities register.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon, Twyford shared a picture of the pile of rubbish, dumped outside the door of his Henderson office.

"I've been speaking out in recent days on Destiny's violent behaviour at the Te Atatu Peninsular Community Centre, and while I've had loads of positive feedback, clearly someone is not happy by the look of this load of rubbish dumped outside my office door," he wrote.

A photo of the rubbish showed mostly household items, clothing, broken glass and empty food containers, in front of the office doors and spilling onto the footpath.

On 15 February, around 30 adults and young children had to be barricaded into a room at the community library, when a group linked to Destiny Church tried to drown out a Pride Festival event.

Acting District Commander for Waitemata Inspector Simon Walker told Checkpoint, police received several complaints of assault that they were actively investigating and he expected there to be further complaints.

Destiny Church leader Brian Tamaki posted on Facebook about the protest that he was "proud of my people who are out in the community today, making a stand against the Woke Agenda plaguing our city."

Last week Twyford wrote to the charities regulator asking for Destiny Church to be struck off, alleging the church engaged in wrongdoing.

"Destiny is in breach of the Charities Act. This organisation should not be receiving a cent of public subsidy through tax deductibility nor the stamp of approval that registration as a charity implies."

Twyford's office was scouring security footage following Tuesday's incident and would be sending any relevant material to police. Meanwhile, a Destiny Church spokesperson rejected any link between the church and the rubbish dumping, NZ Herald reported.

"Our people aren't like that," spokesperson Jenny Marshall told the Herald.
