The Auckland band Naked and Famous has won New Zealand's top songwriting award, the Apra Silver Scroll, for its No 1 hit song Young Blood.
New Zealand music heavyweights such as Anika Moa, Julia Deans and the Mint Chicks were contenders for the prize.
Among other awards, Jamie Greenslade took the Maioha Award for contemporary Maori music writing and Chris Cree Brown won the award for excellence by a contemporary composer.
The 1960s band Fourmyula, famous for its song Nature, was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
