Judges have been given a pay rise by the Remuneration Authority.
Most judges will receive a small increase of between 1.4% - 1.7%, or about $5000 per year.
Annual pay for High Court judges rises from $380,000 to $385,500.
The pay for District Court judges rises from $288,500 to $293,000.
Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias is on $460,000 per year.
The Remuneration Authority says the increase is modest and in line with pay rises it has approved for others in the public sector.
Inequality seen by CTU
The head of the Council of Trade Unions says she does not resent a pay rise for judges, but there are many people whose pay is frozen or being cut.
CTU president Helen Kelly told Morning Report the pay rise is slightly below the inflation rate.
But she said many of those appearing before the judges are on very poor wages and there is evidence of growing inequality in New Zealand.
