National MP for Tauranga Simon Bridges has been promoted to a ministerial role outside Cabinet in a reshuffle forced by the departure of Nick Smith.
[image:4916:third:right]Dr Smith resigned as a Cabinet Minister last month, after failing to declare a conflict of interest in Bronwyn Pullar's ACC case.
Napier MP Chris Tremain, who is currently a minister outside Cabinet, will be moved into Cabinet and given the Internal Affairs portfolio.
Mr Bridges will take over Consumer Affairs, and be an Associate Minister for Transport and Climate Change Issues.
Dr Smith's portfolios have been spread among other Cabinet Ministers.
David Carter picks up Local Government, Amy Adams the Environment portfolio, and Tim Groser is the new Minister for Climate Change Issues.
