The National Party has surged to its highest rating since the election, sitting at 52 percent in the latest Roy Morgan poll.

National was up six percent and the poll showed it would be able to govern alone if an election were held now.
The poll also showed support for its coalition partners had fallen.
The Maori Party and ACT were down half-a-percent to 1.5 and 1 percent respectively, and United Future was unchanged on zero percent.
Labour was on 26 percent support, down 1 percent.
The phone poll was taken with a New Zealand-wide cross-section of 883 electors from 5-18 January.
The margin of error was plus or minus 3.2 percent.
