New Plymouth's mayor says he wants another go in the job.
Neil Holdom has worn the chains for two terms, and he said for the past year people have been asking if he will stand again.
"Up until today I have not answered as I've simply been focused on getting on with the job our community hired me for three years ago," Holdom said.
"But it's three months out and Melissa and our children have signed off my request for permission to stand again so it's game on for election 2022."
Holdom said he will focus on upgrading water and roading infrastructure, sustainable economic development, reducing emissions, supporting community groups, and building relationships with Māori and central government.
He said it is an honour and a privilege to serve the district, and he loves the job.
Councillors Dinnie Moeahu, Murray Chong and Sam Bennett have also declared their intention to run for mayor.
The local body elections will be held on 8 October.
