The crowd for Friday's Rugby World Cup bronze final will be boosted by 716 people with tickets given to them by Auckland Council as compensation for disruption to transport services on the opening night of the rugby tournament.
A total of 1089 people accepted tickets offered after disrupted train services meant they arrived late, or not at all, on opening night.
The council says the people who did arrive but missed the opening ceremony were given tickets for the play-off for third place.
Some 373 people who were the worst affected went to the semi-final between Wales and France last Saturday.
The Welsh were beaten 9-8 and will be without captain Sam Warburton, who is serving a three-match ban for a dangerous tackle, when they play Australia for third and fourth.
The council is not saying how much of the undisclosed cost will be shared by the rail operator Veolia.
