The Southland Sharks have won their 12th straight National Basketball League game, defeating the Manawatu Jets 101-91 on the road.
The Sharks edge ahead of the Waikato Pistons squad in the record books, who won 11 consecutive games back in 2011, and the Southlanders are now chasing the 2001 Waikato Titans' mark of 15 straight.
Southland (13-3) can inch one step closer to claiming their first ever regular season crown when they play the Nelson Giants (12-4) on Sunday.
Earlier in New Plymouth the Canterbury Rams thrashed Taranaki 106-68, keeping their slim playoff hopes alive.
