The head of Sport New Zealand, Peter Miskimmin, has resigned after 12 years in the role.

He will finish up as chief executive in December.
Miskimmin says he had planned to step down in September but COVID-19 threw up unprecedented challenges for the sporting community that he did not feel he could step away from.
"I am extremely proud of what this organisation has achieved over the past 12 years and how wellequipped it is to serve our sector moving forward," he said.
"This has been a period of unparalleled sporting success for New Zealand on the world stage. It has also been one which has seen Sport NZ make a major step change in addressing the declining participation of our young people and the impact this is having on their wellbeing."
Miskimmin said the challenge now is to "reimagine and rebuild our sector, making it more fit-for-purpose and addressing the underrepresentation of groups such as women and girls, Māori, the disabled and those in high-deprivation communities."
The chair of the Sport NZ, Bill Moran, said they will shortly begin the recruitment process for a new CEO.
