New Zealand cruised to a nine-wicket victory in their rain-affected match against Bangladesh in Dunedin on Monday.

Chasing 141 to win from 27 overs, the home side easily achieved their target with exactly seven overs to spare.

The win came three days after a disappointing first-up effort, where the White Ferns suffered a dramatic three-run loss to the West Indies.

Opening batter Suzie Bates played the key role on her home ground, hitting 79 not out from just 68 balls.

Bates shared in an unbeaten second-wicket partnership of 108 with Amelia Kerr, who made 47 from 37.

After a strong start by Bangladesh with the bat against the New Zealand seamers, it was the spinners who brought things back.

Amy Satterthwaite was the standout, taking 3-25 from her five overs, with Frankie Mackay putting the brakes and finishing with 1-24 from six overs.
